Daar Tjamme and Attje.

We are all in good health, en we hope that you may share these blessings. It is lovely wheateher here, every day, and the snow is disappearing nicely. It [the future] looks bright and we haven't been homesick for a moment. For every day we visit someone and we travel by bus. Life is quite different than we were used to. But we get used to it and we unstand already lots [of what is being said], but can't speak a lot since we haven't been here for that long. Yesterday we made a long trip over mountains and through valleys and along large woods and what not. O, there is so much to be seen here, you should come over as well, that seems us best. Today we already have been to mainstreet, which is the principal street of Paterson. There you find beautiful stores, De Bijenkorf in Amsterdam is dwarfed by it. Wij have been after inventory goods. A buffet [as in cabinet] , a six legged table, since that is fashionable, and five tablechairs and an armchair, alle dark of color en leather seats. A coockingfurnace, a gasstove with three heaters all in nickel, and curtains for the windows , we have 8 big windows here. Also flooring sail  [vinyl / linoleum like stuff] for in the kitchen and bedroom, and many more small utensils. Everything is far less expensive over here. Latron I will write some more, but P.[ietje] will finisch the letter now. Receive harty greetings form Jan and Trijntje P[iet] en P[ietje] and K[ids]

Dearest nephews and nieces, now its my turn, well I neend not tell anymore we all are well and that we are glad with our beloved Br(other) and sis being here is also clear isn't it. Imagine being here for 22 years, although with loving husband and children, but without br.(others) or sisters, this is quity something for us, and the children they are so pleased, and as they wrote themselves it all looks ok for them. No beloved, it all IS better over here, but I whished we still could get our parents over because those poor old

basterds still have to work like slaves over there, and when I look around and see many oldies living a good life, than my heart brakes when I think of them. Uncle Arjen [?] is not working anymore, and neither is uncle Jan Ferwerda and the all sail through it, and piet his father can take care of himself as well when he has to give up working en that is how most of them manage if they have set aside some savings, especially among the Dutch, should they had come over when the boys were still small than father would have been retired, tonight we have the Lord's Supper. Jan and Pieter are attending English service this morning [which is not in line with Wednesday] and sis [in law Trijntje] and I stayed home this morning, for this afternoon the tables are set for those them who cannot attend during the morning. Now, beloved ones we will write more lateron, it is just time that we write this little. The Lord be with you and the best wishes and prairs from your lovingly Uncle and aunt P[ieter] P[ietje] J[an]T[rijntje] and S[id] T[rijntje] W[illemina] Dijkstra
